East vs. West

As the season of finals broods over, it is yet another perfect time to blog (and travel, apparently).

The West is indeed much more relaxed than the East. Take America, for example. They say Californians are more chill and are even connoted lazy as compared to those in New York.  China also follows the trend.  All the developed cities are in the East, characterizing those in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong (cringing while I include this under China) as financially greedy, success-driven, motivated by modernity. A short trip to Western Australia this past weekend further solidified my notion on East vs. West.

Finally finished reading East of Eden, an infinitely-paged inspirational novel a good friend lent me.

ask me anything

It's been so long since I've really blogged!

FINALLY DONE W ALL CLASSES!!!!! FOR THE 2011-2012 ACAD YEAR!

Such a journey of academics this year has been. Paradigm shifting of entire view on studying. Having been through field studies (studying in class then visiting site or studying at site), told of behind-the-scene stories personally by prof once an ambassador, witnessed a prof using harsh measures and making students cry, led a class discussion by self, dreadfully experienced how to bore students to sleep, knocked out a whole tin of cookies that Prof bought from London for us and seeing how good of a character he was through his response, getting myself to go to Chinese class at 8am to watch a movie in Mandarin..

---through all, I'm realizing more that learning is not merely about books and attending lectures. No, it means running like a crazed person in the thunderstorm to see that China needs to seriously tackle its drainage issue; visiting DMZ and peeking out to North Korea to understand the tension btwn the north and south; holding patience in working with different group members; skipping class to journey out to taste some of the nation's most heartfelt food; booking a flight to Taiwan to test how much I've learned in Chinese class. : ]

This week I got to be an ambassador for UCLA admitted sg students! Got to meet admission staff and give personal advice to hs graduates.... : ] coooL! EAP had farewell dinner, a sign that things are nearing its end here. Saw a lone traveler at Clarke and really regretted not making a convo... what if I face the same situation?! D: Had an awesomee Easter service at enc, lives of healing and renewal. Heard them before, but these people were so real and honest and were truly themselves testifying about His power to give them Life.

Wow I have so much to write about but I can't write them all.

Ask me anything :p

blessed and appreciating

damn........I think this is perhaps the best season of my life yet. getting delicious food and meeting people left and right... while at the same time building friendships (networking) and being convicted of life purpose. exploring the new land with no distractions of school work, enjoying urban cafes and architecture (favorite leisure activity), getting invitations to travel over/with by locals and friends....

Miss the Community.

What a good friday morning! Thunderstorm and I think it's a perfect reminder.

Beyond intellect, logic, sight--lies the more powerful and real truth..
Only faith does it.

It's a public holiday in Singapore and I'm loving it

As my friend puts it, "[Sg gov] is like a very good and strict parent."

Troubled

Things that trouble my mind:

1) rejecting good offers
2) not having a camera on me when I eat good food

Response to last post from dad (translated)--

If your room is dirty there is bound to be bugs. You should clean it first and call the pest control at front desk. Be careful you might get a red eye, make sure to wash up often.

*And that's exactly what I did that morning. finally got myself a bed sheet too (mattress cover)...live like a queen for the last 3 weeks *smirk:]

I can't believe I'm getting that typical "clean your room" talk, 124354 miles away. Guess I'm glad to be reminded I'm still a daughter LOL.

왠 월요일 새벽 6시부터 천둥번게...? 그러나 8시에 중국어 시험보러 나가야지...헐...

그리고 아침부터 나방을 할수없이 죽였다... 인생이 살벌하다

No day without purpose

Omg... I gotta get myself together. Wasted 2 precious days

Getting owned with bug bites these days and annoyed of it. What have I been eating, bananas?

I love Tablo's Fever's End album and the substance of it. Yeah I'm late.

What is it about Japanese that keeps me going? Learning Mandarin isn't the same...

Only have 3 more weeks left in Sg. Spending it at cafes nearby reading a book I borrowed from a friend, and crossing off things on my to-do list, one of which was to get inside that pool on top of 50+ story hotel at Marina Bay Sands.

I had a good feeling about this weekend, mind me calling it a "conviction."  Thought I was gonna be able to visit Japan because it was very timely, but instead, He brought the Japanese over to me along with other new friends.

It was so fun. Some of us just camped out until 3am aside the lake talking about life.  First time whisky showed me its good side. I got to learn about what friends genuinely thought about Life...

Only got 1.5 hrs of sleep before our consciencetold us we have to wake up for the pool. Haha that really was it, we just had to get ourselves in there (it had closed the night before). The chill from the 57th floor hindered us at first, but eventually we all got in alright.

Haha, the things people do!

---

Was gently reminded of why I decided to take Japanese in the first place.

Oh, the love that so differentiates b from nb.. can we b make it more evident? Is it possible?
